This luxury cottage sits on Polperro's outer harbour wall, next to the beach and looking out to sea. At high tide the sea is only feet below the cottage. Sit out on the beach terrace and feel your cares slip away.

The cottage feels secluded yet has the convenience of a setting in the heart of Polperro.

Willy Wilcox Cottage is an historic Grade II listed cottage situated in Polperro, truly one of the most beautiful coastal villages in Cornwall with its colour washed cottages huddled along quaint narrow and almost traffic-free streets around its famous working fishing harbour. The National Trust Coastal Path is directly accessible from the cottage providing fantastic walking along this unspoiled coastline. Keen walkers can reach picturesque neighbours Polruan/Fowey and Looe, a short drive or boat ride away for everyone else.

Polperro is renowned for its pubs but there is also a good range of restaurants and small shops. You can pick up your fresh bread and croissants in the morning or pop out to get breakfast. There are two little supermarkets, a bakers, post office and chemist. You can also check out the art galleries, clothing and gift shops, at your leisure.

Willy Wilcox, after whom the cottage is named, was a fisherman and was trapped by the sea, while bringing contraband into the cave, deep under the cottage. The Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing explains more about these pursuits. Legend has it that there is a secret passageway from the cottage to the cave.

Ode to a wonderful holiday
Mo & John Smith
It's funny how houses
Some big and some small
Can be rented out
No trouble at all
To find one that's perfect
Regardless of weather
Made us so happy
It all came together
A character house
With all you could need
Plus a town of such charm
We were lucky indeed
Fishing boats to watch
And beach by the door
The harbour provides
Interests galore
Coastal walks so close
To keep us all fit
But then there are inns
If you'd rather just sit
We loved Willy Wilcox
Such a great find
You can't do better
If you want to unwind.
