My husband, 3 year old son and myself all enjoyed our stay at Willy Wilcox. It is perfectly located with amazing views. The owner was great in the lead up to our stay and we really appreciated the passes to the pool at The Hannafore Hotel, our son loved that. The cream teas were outstanding too and a lovely touch. The open fire was lovely too. We would definitely recommend.

50th Birthday

We stayed in Willy Wilcox for 3 nights in November for my birthday. There were 4 mature couples and there was still plenty of space. I cannot fault the cottage in any way. the large living room has great views over the harbour, the well-equipped (new) kitchen was a great place for us all to have breakfast, and the 2 double, 2 twin bedrooms were perfect. The position at the end of the harbour is second to none, and the Blue Peter Inn, one of the best pubs i have ever frequented, is 29 steps away. I have been visiting Polperro 2 or 3 times a year for the last 14 years and stayed in many different cottages, and this is without doubt the best cottage I have stayed in. My sister will be 50 in 2017, so we will be returning to Willy Wilcox for another stay. a great cottage in a great Cornish village.

What a fabulous place Willy Willcox cottage is! Very homely with everything you could need and more. What makes this cottage so special is the amazing location, you open the front door and you are on the beach which my dogs loved, and the friendly shops and pubs are just around the corner. Literally everything is on your doorstep. Another nice touch were the cream teas laid out in the kitchen upon our arrival. Loads of beautiful scenery and walks and to top it off we had amazing weather. Willy Wilcox we will be back.

Have just returned from a fabulous week at Willy Wilcox cottage. The cottage is absolutely amazing and perfect for our extended family holiday. Our days were spent swimming in the sea, walking the South West coastal path, fishing for mackerel, eating and drinking in the local pubs and restaurants, or just people watching from the cottage terrace. A wonderful week was had by all and we hope to return soon.

The best UK location by far we have ever stayed at!

Had a week stay two families, what a location! Open the front door and you were on the quay side, down the steps and the beach was there, what more could you ask for, also a sun terrace to start the day each morning with a view that will be with us for a long time. The little village had all you needed pubs, shops, takeaway, car free narrow roads, would strongly recommend this property to a friend or relative without a doubt.

Enchanting!

Our family ranging in age from 2 years to 86 years couldn’t believe their eyes on arriving at Willy Wilcox, and we had visited previously when our now grown up children were small! Once again, the cottage and its location took our breath away. Nothing has been left to chance by the owners to make this the most comfortable, welcoming home from home. Nothing can rival its position in this beautiful place. Fishing boats come and go outside your windows, you lie in bed and listen to the tides, you sit on the beautiful terrace and watch the activity on the little beach and the harbour below. Bliss. Added to all this it goes without saying that the cottage is immaculately clean and superbly appointed with everything to hand to make self-catering easy. At the same time the Blue Peter nearby will supply fabulous take away fish and chips and Michelle’s restaurant on Little Green is the place to go for seafood caught by their own boat. What more could anyone want? We even flew the younger party from Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster to Newquay with a flight time of one hour in order to make the most of their time in Polperro. Brilliant and friendly response from the owner to any queries top off a service second to none. Just need to organise the family now and book a return visit!

The best cottage in Polperro

My wife and I have stayed in Willy Wilcox four times over the last eight years. The character, charm and condition of the house, the location on the harbour in view of the Channel and in sight of the activities of a real fishing village, the friendliness of the people of Polperro, and the absolutely outstanding support, responsiveness, and sincere, helpful and warm personality of the owner bring us back, and will continue to bring us back. The house is in perfect condition, with all the conveniences, linens and supplies you could ask for. It is decorated wonderfully with many paintings of the village and house throughout, and just gives one a feeling you’re living the history of the village. There have been few times we needed to ask questions or ask for help, but on each occasion Tracey and Carl, who are the local managers, have gone out of their way to do what was needed. We have been given great advice on places to see, eat, and general suggestions on things to do in Polperro and Cornwall, It is a unique house in a unique place that has provided us with memories that will last us a lifetime. Each year we’ve stayed in Willy, we’ve had friends or family visit for part of the time we were there, and, if asked, I know each would say essentially the same thing I’ve said about our time there. For example, here are the thoughts of our daughter from her visit with us this year. “My family and I loved your home in Polperro and the time we spent there with my parents. We had heard so much about Willy Wilcox and the village from them over the many years they have enjoyed it, and both were more magical than they had described. Trevor, 13, loved exploring the nooks and crannies of the house, the village and the surrounding paths, caves and outcroppings (though he had an unfortunate run-in with stinging nettles on our walk along the coast path to Looe; live and learn!). Marc loved sitting at the window or on the upper terrace sketching the harbour and village views. I was quite content sitting in the living room watching the clouds, the tourists, the fishermen or whatever else might pass by that beautiful front window – and even more content if I was eating a scone or pasty at the time. I hope this won’t be our last time in Cornwall. Oh, and one final comment, Willy is 52 paces from the best pub

House with a “million dollar view”

This house surprised us when we arrived. It was actually much better than we expected. The view from the house to the harbour or the open sea is amazing and from all rooms you can see and hear the sea. When it was raining, sitting in the living room with a log fire and looking to the waves and the rain splashing to the big window is really nice. And sitting on the small terrace above the harbour in the morning sun was fantastic. There are a lot of tourists in Polperro (they come around 10 am and leave at 5 pm), but on the terrace, they cannot see you, so you are really in a nicely secluded place. We also went swimming in the sea which is, when the tide is high, only 10 steps away. We were there with two older children and they loved all the rooms, so we had no discussion who wants which bedroom. The car park is about 3 minutes away and as Polperro is a nearly car-free village (most of the streets are too narrow to get a car through) it is a nice walk along the harbour and many small shops. Two grocery shops offer everything You need, and we enjoyed food at Couches Restaurant, The House on the Props and the Three Pilchards. The Blue Peter Inn next door was always full, so we did not manage to go there. We can absolutely recommend this house and place. It was surely one of our favourite holiday homes and we will surely come back one day.

Beautiful property in stunning location

Holiday homes don’t get much better than this one. This was my second visit and I will be going back as soon as possible. Being able to hear only the sound of seagulls from your bedroom window and to watch the sun rise and set over the harbour at Polperro is nothing short of spectacular. Despite the position so close to (practically in…) the sea, the cottage itself is very warm and cosy and extremely well-maintained. It is also well-equipped, although if you don’t feel like cooking there is a great pub (the Blue Peter) less than a minute’s walk away. Be prepared for the short walk from the car parking space to the cottage – we wrongly ignored the advice to go to the cottage first and get the luggage trolley to move our stuff. I would recommend the walk along the coastal path right from the back door – there are some steep sections, but amazing views make it worthwhile. All in all Willy Wilcox is a wonderful place to stay.

Stunning holiday cottage

Willy Wilcox Cottage is a stunning fisherman’s cottage nestled at the end of the harbour in the beautiful village of Polperro. We have just had a wonderful holiday and after 10 years away we most certainly won’t be leaving it that long again. The cottage’s location is unbeatable with stunning views across the harbour and out to sea. Inside is very homely and comfortable, an abundance of hot water and beds very comfortable. This is a great location if you have dogs our two almost felt they had complete ownership of the beach and enjoyed flying around with the rest of the doggy gang that met up daily when the tide was out. Lots to do in the evening and don’t miss out on the warm hospitality of the Blue Peter Inn, (great food too). Quiz night at the Ship Inn was fun and the locals are a very friendly bunch who are very welcoming. Can’t wait to go back.
