Well what a gorgeous location Polperro is a fab lil village with friendly people espesh Joan she was at the pixie shop and the lady at post office. The house is warming and had a lovely welcome of a Cornish cream tea for us on arrival, scrummy after 5 hrs of driving. The kids loved the pirate story and cave, the parents loved the views and the sound of the sea and the dogs loved the beach ! Deborah u really have a gem of a place x thanks I’m sure we may return x

Wonderful week in Willy Wilcox!

We spent a wonderful week in Willy Wilcox in January. It is a comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean cottage in a marvellous position overlooking the harbour and bay in Polperro. From the moment we walked in we felt at home; cream tea and flowers on the table and lights and heating on to welcome us. We spent hours watching the sea and the boats coming in and going out. It was very exciting at high tides when there was a high wind, to have the spray hitting the windows while we were snug inside! You can access the coast path practically from the door and wander round the quaint, interesting village with its pubs, shops and cottages. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Willy Wilcox. We hope to be back next year!

A gem in winter too

Stayed at Willy Wilcox just the two of us and our dog in January. Wonderful, warm, comfortable cottage in the most devastatingly beautiful location. Favourite moments include watching the sea from the comfort of the kitchen table, the window seat in the drawing room, the bed in the master bedroom etc. And if course the thrill of a storm and the waves hitting the front of the cottage. A lovely welcome waiting on arrival. Not great for people (or dogs) with mobility issues as there are lots of steps but other than that, a perfect spot.

The best cottage in Polperro!

Christmas week in Willy Wilcox cottage has been one to remember, you couldn’t get closer to the sea, to hear the sea night and day and smell the fresh sea air was wonderful. Step out of your front door to the beach for the kids and dogs to play couldn’t be easier. Warm and cosy with everything you might need the cottage caters for all, comfy warm beds no need to worry about being cold with a fab fire and every room well heated you can snuggle in bed or in front of the fire. The villagers are friendly and welcoming, not to mention the live music at the Blue Peter pub, if you are happy to squeeze in. Look forward to doing it all again soon.

What a fabulous place!

Polperro is one of the most beautiful villages anywhere. Lots of lovely little pubs, great restaurants and twisty tiny roads with a pretty fishing harbour waiting for you at the end. But when you add a stay at Willy Wilcox to the mix, then you’ve got something really special. It’s chock full of beams, character, nooks, crannies and even a mysterious passage between the cottage and the cliff which you can peep into thanks to an illuminated window. And everywhere the sea. From the fabulous terrace perched on the cliff with its chimenea, to every main room in the house. What could be better than snuggling down to sleep with the sound and sight of the waves breaking on the rocks and then having it all to look forward to when you wake up again? Just wonderful. And even though you can almost taste the sea spray, you feel so toasty and comfortable inside – must be terrific in the winter. It really is the best place ever. To go back soon can’t be soon enough for me!

This was our second visit to Willy Wilcox and we weren’t disappointed. The cottage, the position and Polperro itself was just as wonderful as we remembered it the first time. We will definitely return again.

Our stay at Willy Wilcox was excellent

We arrived at the cottage which overlooks the harbour wall and the sandy beach. Once inside we had scones, strawberry jam and cream laid out with the tea service on the dining table, absolutely lovely. The house itself is clean and well stocked. The log fire on a cold winters night was excellent whilst looking out from the living room window. Would we stay again? DEFINITELY.

Coastal bliss!

My wife and myself stayed in this fantastic cottage for one week and although the end of September we were really lucky with the weather as every day was like a summers day. The cottage is located directly overlooking the harbour wall, so you have a view of the harbour and the sea – a lot of our time was spent outside the cottage just watching the boats and lots of tourists. The cottage is clean, has everything you need and cannot be faulted – it is ideally suited for the coastal path and you can walk to Looe or Polruan or beyond and if you time it right could catch a boat back more or less right to your front door. We took our well behaved flat coated retriever (Izzy) with us, as the cottage allows well behaved dogs and she enjoyed the accommodation and the week spent there. We did not want to leave and would love to stay there again and possible bring other members of our family as there are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Highly recommended for its fantastic location, cleanliness, facilities and owners prompt correspondence. Polperro is basically a car free village and you do have to park the car about a 4 minute walk away but well worth this small inconvenience. If you get the chance to stay and its vacant you can’t go wrong! Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Families with Teenagers.

What a fantastic place for a holiday. Our family group includes four in teens and early twenties. Plenty of space for everyone and so much provided – fully stocked kitchen, board games, plants, hair dryers, towels, local information, luggage trolleys. A real home from home. It was a joy to wake up with the view of the sea and boats out of all the windows whatever the weather and to hear the waves on the beach below. The terrace was a bonus too for breakfast al fresco and a few drinks in the evening! A perfect spot with a great view. Polperro is a lovely village with a few good pubs and lots of places to eat. The pubs had live music too. The village store, fish market and bakery were great and not over-priced. Everyone was very friendly. In season a fair few people visit Polperro for the day and queue for boat trips from the harbour, but earlier in the morning and in the evenings the beach was very quiet and peaceful. We even walked on the beach at midnight to see the full moon. We swam in the sea, walked on the coastal path to Talland and to the natural swimming pool near Chapel Rock, watched the fishing boats coming in, sat on the jetty, went crabbing, took a boat trip round the coast, ate at the Blue Peter, the Ship, the Crumplehorn and Michelle’s – all good. But generally just chilled. This is a wonderful place to chill! (We shared our week with a couple of baby seagulls sheltering behind the house – and their mum keeping watch from the chimney) Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Age 55+, Families with Teenagers.

Our first visit to Willy Wilcox and we hope not the last! What a wonderful holiday we all had. Our grandchildren didn’t want to leave! The cottage is well equipped, and the location is just fabulous. We spent many an hour just sitting and watching the fishermen unloading their catch. The pubs are great, and the food was good. The blue peter is a great place to have next door and the Nelson was perfect for our last night. We were fortunate to see a basking shark on our boat trip to Fowey. Willy Wilcox and Polperro is defiantly a place everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. Highly recommended!
